A day with Leonardo da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci was a universal genius and one of the greatest inventors of all times. Yet most people only know him as the great painter who painted the Mona Lisa. In honour of the 500. anniversary of his death, I designed the following interactive and immersive theatre production, which allows the audience to learn more about Leonardo’s daily life. Through the course of the performance, the audience is invited to embrace the role of the great master’s students. They get the chance to listen to his classes, work with him on projects and visit the streets, the gardens and the market of Milan. Through an arched hallway the audience first enters the scenery and thereby travels back in time right into the student room of da Vinci’s Workshop in Milan.
Performance Design
The following images show the 1:50 scale model of my performance design, which is designed to fit in every standard sports hall.
By means of the great size and the different locations within the set, I want to achieve that the audience really feels transported back into the city of Milan in the 15th century.
The images are shown in the order in which the audience would enter them.
